If five days at SOULfeast is not enough for you, or if you're only able to join us for one day, SOULfeast Saturday is for you! Join us on Saturday, July 17 9AM 'till 3:30PM for the day retreat of your choice. This year's offerings include:
- Enter the Worship Circle- Spirituality and Songwriting with Jay Voorhees
This workshop invites folks with a musical background to gather around the circle to think about the intersection of music and faith, using songwriting as a means of connecting with God both individually and communally. Bring your musical instruments and talents and we will create music which may be shared during SOULfeast worship services.
- Creativity and Divine Surprise with Karla Kincannon
Have you ever wondered if you are creative? Many of us feel as if we are not; however, creativity is in our God-given nature. If you are hungry for a clearer sense of God's presence in your life, your creativity is a tool for navigating through every day experiences to find the sacred. This is a hands-on workshop to explore you hidden creativity through exercises designed to be non-threatening. No artistic training is necessary. Trained artists are also welcomed. All supplies are provided.
- Henri Nouwen’s Invite to a Homecoming with Wil Hernandez
Based upon Nouwen's book The Return of the Prodigal Son, we will examine closely God's constant invitation to a spiritual homecoming that leads to a more authentic inner transformation. Through the inspiration of Nouwen's own reflection on his homecoming, we can look forward with expectation for own experience of it in our journey.
- Spirituality and Photography with Valerie Isenhower
Photography can lead us on a journey to see the world in a different light. It can become a spiritual practice as we stop to pay attention, to be patient, to center and to focus our eyes on the world in a new way. Photography is a path to stilling the heart and soul in order to sense to the presence of God in the beauty of God's creation. Bring your camera for this hands-on experience.
- The God Factor at Work with Patricia Wilson
This workshop will guide business leaders in drawing on principles of their faith while at work. Participants will look at finding God's presence in a stressful workplace, managing time from a God-centered perspective, dealing with conflict, listening more effectively, and leading by empowering others.
- Shaping a Life of Significance for Retirement with Jack Hansen and Jerry Haas
Spend a day examining the personal dimensions of retirement. During the day, we will discuss major transition opportunities and challenges. We will look at topics such as finding meaning in a smaller world of influence and authority, adjusting to new realities in family and relationships, coming to grips with declining physical capabilities, and realizing the spiritual and intellectual growth possible in retirement years.
- Writing a Meditation for The Upper Room daily devotional guide with Mary Lou Redding
This workshop will introduce ways to record and reflect on spiritual insights that come from everyday life and from personal Bible study. Participants will be guided through a process that will identify material for a good meditation and will be helped to write one for possible publication in The Upper Room, one of the world's most read devotional magazines.
- Nourishing the Soul of the Congregation with Tom Albin
How can Christian leaders strengthen the shared life of a local congregation? How do we move from traditional activities and functions of ministry into those attitudes and practices that are formational and transformational? These are the key questions that will guide our time together. Come and learn five essential elements for nourishing a congregation, developing an effective discipleship system, and transforming the world for Jesus Christ.
