Emmaus News and Events
Update on Emmaus Materials
For the past two years, we have been looking for some movie or short film to replace "In Remembrance". We contacted the founders and they had no problem with bringing the movie up to date. (Did you know that "In Remembrance" wasn't even part of the weekend until Weekend #15?) We looked at a lot of different movies and discarded a lot of movies because there was something that was either distracting or got away from the intended message. The original hope and intent was that after the film, the "Examination of Conscience" in the chapel and silence, the pilgrim will begin thinking about their relationship with Jesus and to prepare them for the journey. We have found a DVD that fulfills that intent. It is seven and one half minutes long and uses terminology that we use during the weekend. It fulfills the original hope and intent and is presented in an up-to-date manner. It has been approved by the Regional Leaders Team and by the 2010 International Advisory Committee members. We have also tested it in several communities around the world and it has been received with great enthusiasm. I know that there are some out there who like the "In Remembrance" movie. All we ask is that you think back to your weekend. What did you think then? We've all served on teams and either became attached to the movie or detached to the movie. Remember- the weekend is for the Pilgrim. If your community hasn't received their free copy and 3 Day Schedule updated pages, send an email to kjenkins@gbod.org; or lfeliciano@gbod.org and tell to what mailing address to send the free DVD to and what email address to send the free 3 Day Schedule pages. After January 1, 2011, you can order additional DVD's for $25.00 by sending a check to:

MISSION & VISION STATEMENTS
We are very excited about the Emmaus and Chrysalis Vision and Mission Statements that have been developed over the past eighteen months. The staff and Regional Leaders have discerned and prayed together and through it all, the Holy Spirit spoke to us.
The Emmaus/Chrysalis Mission Statement:
"Empowering leaders through Emmaus and Chrysalis to be the hands and feet of Christ"
The Emmaus/Chrysalis Vision Statement:
"Fourth Day leaders embodying Christ!"
Our job as Staff and Regional Leaders are to empower the local Board of Directors to lead the Emmaus and Chrysalis movements in their communities. We do this through Leadership Development Events, Clergy Training events and prayer. In the time of Christ, He empowered twelve men to continue His ministry "to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth."
We the guidance of the Holy Spirit, all of us can be part of these great movements being spread in our towns, in our states and "to the ends of the earth." Please continue to pray for us as we continue to With the pray for you.
