Living Wage: $10 in 2010 -- Check out the devozine article "Poverty in Mission" by Sarah Martindell, a US-2 Missionary (see below), and then consider Sarah's challenge: "The General Board of Church and Society of The United Methodist Church is campaigning to raise the U. S. minimum wage to $10 in 2010. I want to help them reach their goal, especially since it involves exposing the systems that perpetuate poverty and combating injustice. Everyone deserves to be paid a living wage -- what is needed to cover food, housing, healthcare, and basic necessities. If you are ready to help the cause, contact your legislators and express your support of a raise in the minimum wage. Even if you are too young to vote, your voice still matters! Together, we can work to end poverty."
