About Alive Now

Alive Now is a thematic, bi-monthly magazine that seeks to nourish people who are hungry for a sacred way of living. This four-color, 64-page publication of Upper Room Ministries speaks to the opportunities and challenges of following Christ in the modern world. Scripture and prayer are two foundational cornerstones of content. We accept freelance theme-based writing that is submitted either by mail or electronically and strive to represent the widest possible diversity (theological, geographical, denominational, racial, cultural) among our writers.

JoAnn Evans Miller is editor. She has been editor of Upper Room Books for twelve years and associate editor of Weavings for four years, both publications of Upper Room Ministries. JoAnn was educated at Randolph-Macon Woman's College and Scarritt College for Christian Workers.

Eli Fisher has been associate editor for ten years. He worked previously in reference books at Abingdon Press. He was educated at Mount Union College in Ohio and at the Vanderbilt University Graduate School.

Susan Hulme of BlueMarigold is the graphic designer. She has worked with the Alive Now staff for twelve years. The experience of having worked with over twenty national and regional publications continues her education. She is currently working on hand printing and hand binding her first chap book, a limited edition fine press book for her parents.
